Online Shopping Vs. Local Retail Shops
With internet usage becoming so popular, more and more people are using the web to make purchases rather than using local retail shops. I have personally found internet shopping the better way to go. Here’s why:
I find it to be very stressful having to schlep through the crowds, especially during sales or the holiday season in order to find what I need. It’s even more annoying when I have to go from store to store in search of the best bargain on the same item. With internet shopping, all I have to do is use a search engine for pricing.
It will tell me where I can find the item online the cheapest. It only takes a few minutes to do and I avoid the hassle of spending an entire day attempting to do the same thing. Plus, I’m saving money on gas. The only time I have found internet shopping to not be feasible is when I need to have something right away. If you need something in your hands the same day, shopping online won’t work for you.
But if you plan ahead, you can not only find what you need online, but you can also find great bargains. Most online stores or websites offer warranties for larger items. Some also offer free shipping and free returns. When you need to return something, all you need to do is go to the website you bought the merchandise from and print a return label. You then wrap the package back up, stick the return label on it and send it back. It’s that simple!
Online shopping is customer friendly since most check-outs are easy to understand, even for those that are beginners to the computer and online shopping. With online shopping you can pay with most credit or debit cards. Some also take Paypal. There are many shipping arrangements available to suit most people’s needs. You can upgrade your shipping for an additional fee if you would like your merchandise to arrive sooner.
The one thing I love the best about online shopping is being able to buy hard to find items. Have you ever noticed that all of the regular retail stores sell pretty much the same stuff? My two boys are into different and more obscure things than most kids their age. I can’t always find the stuff they like at regular stores. My older son who’s almost 7 likes some of the Japanese anime shows he sees on TV.
The regular retail stores don’t carry much of that merchandise. I have found such awesome gifts and toys for him online. He’s so thrilled when we get one for him because he doesn’t see them on the shelves when we’re shopping at place like Target or Toys R’ Us. My toddler is now starting to get into watching Blue’s Clues. Unfortunately, that’s not as big as it was 5 years ago.
There are so many new children’s shows that I can’t find any Blue’s Clues merchandise at regular retail stores. The shoe just isn’t popular anymore. I know that I will have no trouble finding Blues Clues toys online. I can look at online toy stores or I can try e-bay. E-bay is a wonderful place to search for hard to find items.
Overall, I’m never disappointed when I shop online. I highly recommend shopping that way instead of local retail stores. If you stick with secure websites that offer free shipping and returns, plus guarantees, you’ll find it’s the better way to shop and it’s stress and hassle free.
