Have a Unique Baby Shower with These Theme Ideas

Baby showers are such a meaningful event for expecting parents. They bring together all of their friends and family to celebrate the impending birth of their new child. If you want to plan a truly meaningful shower, with a little thought you can come up with some really fun and unique ideas. Here are a few ideas just to get you started:

Rainy Days Shower / Shower Shower

Get out the rain coats, rain boots and decorate your place with umbrellas! Have a rainy days themed party. This is a really fun idea in the middle of summer. It’s also fun to incorporate things like rubber ducks and other things we associate with water and rain.

ABC and 123 Shower

An ABC and 123 shower can be fun. Try to find as many items as you can to display and snack on that fit the letters ABC or numbers 123. Snack foods like apples, bananas and carrots in groups of 1, 2 or 3 works well. Use your imagination and see how many unique things you can come up with.

Bath Time Shower

A bath time shower can be a lot of fun. Gifts can all center around baby’s bath time needs. New parents often need a baby bathtub, baby soaps, and baby sized towels. Those adorable animal hooded towels make for some cute gifts.

Necessary Gear Shower

Babies come with a ton of extra necessary gear. They need a car seat (or two), stroller, crib, playpen, bath stuff, illness stuff, diapers, formula, etc… If the parents don’t need, or want a lot of extra “stuff” lying around, then a necessities shower can be just the answer. A necessities shower is also great for new parents who may need financial help to get them through the first few months.

Safety Shower

Another nice idea for new parents is to have a safety shower. Everyone brings the parents those cabinet locks, toilet latches, outlet covers, etc… to help them get the house in order for the new baby. All of the safety stuff is expensive and new parents appreciate having help with some of the basics.

Book Shower (a.k.a. Knowledge is Power Shower)

For the parents who have all of the necessary baby stuff, or are hard to buy for, why not throw a book shower? Each guest can bring their favorite children’s book for the new baby. This helps build baby’s library and also insures they will have wonderful books to read as they grow. What better gift than some knowledge?

College Fund Shower

With the costs of a college education skyrocketing more and more each year, it’s also a unique idea to have a college fund shower. Ask each attendee to donate to a college fund for the new baby. That money will grow nicely over the eighteen or so years it is in the account – long after the toys and gear are long gone.

Fill the Freezer Shower

The new mom and dad will be tired after the baby arrives. A fill the freezer themed shower is a good option for families who could use a boost in not having to cook or eat out during that first month the new baby is home.

Whatever theme you choose for a baby shower the day will be remembered and enjoyed by all. Babies are very special and it’s so fun to have a party to celebrate their arrival into the world!
