Activities To Keep Your Toddler Or Preschooler Busy

It’s great being a stay at home mom. But, sometimes our daily routines get stale and we need ideas on what to do to keep our toddlers or preschoolers occupied. It’s not fair for them to be subjected to us toting them around to get our errands done or clean the house. Getting them out of the house and involved with activities will not only help us to feel more a part of the day, but it will also be great for your child socially and develop-mentally.  The following are some suggestions on activities to do in order to keep the days from being boring.

Go to the park.  Children love to be outdoors in the fresh air. Going to your local park is also a great way to meet and connect with other moms. And most importantly, it’s free.

Mommy and me classes are a great bonding experience for you and your child. They usually meet once a week. You will be doing activities, crafts and perhaps singing songs with your little one. Each week there are usually different activities so the both of you won’t be bored. Your child will be in a class with the same group of children week to week too.

On those rainy days, try some of these great play development toys that help with learning skills.

Libraries also offer classes and groups for all ages. Some have story time in the morning or various other playgroups. Most libraries don’t charge fees for the classes which makes it especially appealing to moms on a tight budget.

Music classes that offer music and movement like Kindermusik are an excellent way for your child to discover music and song and have fun.

Nature Centers usually have preschool or home school classes. Some only charge a nominal fee while other centers offer classes for free. Your child will do things like explore the woods, make crafts, and learn about animals and nature, all at your child’s age level.

Gym classes like Gymboree or swimming classes are wonderful at allowing your child to expel all of that extra energy they always seem to have. Check your local YMCA to see if they offer swimming classes or lessons. There are even some Karate studios that take children as early as 3.

Join a playgroup. When we moved, the best thing I ever did was join a local playgroup. Being new to the area and not having friends is difficult for adults, but it can be really tough on our kids. It’s great to be able to meet other moms that have kids the same age.

Kids love going to museums and zoos. Even if you go to the same one a few times a year, they never get bored. There’s always something new to see or something they haven’t discovered yet.
